Period Six was the home of daydreams, once upon a time, when I would stare out the window as students wrote essays. But that was years ago. Now it's a newsroom, a brilliant anomaly, where young journalists close each busy day. In my fourth year of teaching, I spend most of my time with ninth graders and one hour with the varied staff of the Cascade newspaper. Every student, every minute and day, brings something new. And for that I continue to be grateful.
